A hike that is more than nature – it is a journey through centuries of history and art. The route starts in Welsberg and leads past Welsperg Castle, the ruins of Thurn, and the lost castle of Meisenreut. In Taisten, the cultural highlight is a guided visit to St. George’s Church, built around 800 as a fortified sanctuary and first mentioned in 861. Inside, late Gothic frescoes depicting scenes from the life of Christ and the famous St. Christopher fresco. The route continues to the Erasmus Chapel, burial place of the Counts of Welsperg, featuring tombstones and memorial shields. The lovingly designed cemetery in Taisten invites a moment of reflection. The hike concludes in Welsberg, the village of 20 fountains and home of the Baroque artist Paul Troger. Backpack provisions. The guided tour in Taisten can also be booked without the hike. Difficulty: easy, suitable for families. Length: 7 km. Duration: 01:00 pm.-05:00 pm. Walking time: 2.5 hours. Altitude difference: 150 m. Meeting point for the hike: at 01:00 pm. at the bus stop in Welsberg, Rienz Bridge (opposite Bar Parkcafé). From the hiking car park above Mudler, the trail leads up to the Lutterkopf, which rises just above the tree line. Despite its modest elevation, the summit offers a magnificent panoramic view. To the south, the rugged peaks of the Sexten Dolomites dominate the skyline; to the north, the imposing summits of the Rieserferner Group come into view. Looking southwest, the panorama stretches across the Pustertal Valley to the Ötztal Alps and the Ortler Group. Refreshments possibility in a mountain hut. Difficulty: medium. Length: 10 km. We experience a varied and scenic hike through the Antholz valley. We take the bus to Lake Antholz and start our hike there. On hiking trail no. 1 we reach Wöhrer cabin (not managed) and from there continue on to Teufelsplatz. Along the left valley side we hike leisurely, gradually descending until we reach Antholz Mittertal. Afterwards we follow the Müllerkoflweg (no. 1) to Burgegger Mill and continue downstream to Antholz Niedertal. From there we return by bus to our starting point. (Those who wish may end the tour already in Antholz Mittertal)

Every Friday from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm, the farm oven at Stacherhof is fired up, offering an authentic experience of traditional bread baking. In the traditional wood-fired oven, real farmhouse bread is made, while the entire process from grain to flour and from flour to the finished loaf is demonstrated. Step by step, traditional recipes, milling, dough preparation and baking are explained – all carried out with great care and passion. After baking, the experience continues with a short farm tour, where the animals are introduced and insights into everyday farm life are provided. Afterwards, participants are invited to enjoy a tasting of freshly baked bread along with selected specialties from the farm shop. The course takes place with a minimum of 5 participants. Each participant can take one loaf of bread home. Registration by Thursday, 6:00 pm.

This guided hike to the Rasner Möser biotope focuses on protecting our local environment. Together with Christian Mayr from the Olang forestry station, you will learn which plants are invasive, why they are problematic, and how they affect the ecosystem. Afterwards, the knowledge is put into practice: together we remove invasive plants and actively contribute to preserving this sensitive natural habitat. A meaningful and educational activity for everyone who wants to actively support nature conservation. Recommended: long trousers, long-sleeved shirt, sturdy shoes, and gloves.

Dolomites Last Loop

The Dolomites Last Loop (Backyard Ultra) at the Nordic Arena in Dobbiaco is no ordinary race – here, it’s not about distance, but endurance. Runners complete a 6.706 km loop starting every hour. You have exactly 60 minutes per lap: finish faster and you get time to rest; finish too late and you’re out. Lap after lap, until only one runner remains. The course leads towards Lake Dobbiaco, slightly uphill at first and then back to the arena – seemingly short, but a true physical and mental challenge. Three different perspectives on wind music: WIND PERSPECTIVES brings three conductors to the podium of the WINDWERK symphonic wind orchestra from Vorarlberg, Austria. The varied programme alternates between rearrangements of existing pieces and compositions never before performed in public. The concert marks the conclusion of the two-year specialisation course in Instrumentation for Wind Orchestra at the ‘Claudio Monteverdi’ Conservatory in Bolzano (Bozen). The orchestra is conducted by South Tyroleans Jakob Augschöll and Daniel Niederegger, alongside Daniel Muck. Artistic direction: Mag. Thomas Ludescher, Professor of Instrumentation for Wind Orchestra (Band Conducting) at the ‘Claudio Monteverdi’ Conservatory in Bolzano.
