As a GSTC-certified destination, the region 3 Zinnen Dolomites is committed to setting a strong example for sustainable tourism and active environmental protection. The idea is simple: nature lovers, guests and locals set out – individually or in small groups – to collect litter along hiking trails, in forests, around lakes, in villages and wherever waste has been left behind. The initiative is organised in cooperation with The Summit Foundation. Free litter bags and litter pickers are available at the local tourist offices. Our natural environment enriches our lives every day – now it's our turn to give something back. Together with Lanz Active, we discover the impressive high-mountain landscape of the Plätzwiese plateau in the Prags Dolomites. This easy, family-friendly circular hike takes us from the plateau at around 2,000 m up to Strudelkopf at 2,300 m, where a breathtaking panorama awaits. Along the way, we encounter impressive traces of the First World War, including remains of an Austrian base camp, old trenches, and remnants of a material cableway. The tour uniquely combines nature experience, history, and wide panoramic views and is also suitable for children. A varied hike in the Fanes-Sennes-Prags Nature Park, combining movement, landscape, and fascinating historical insights. Paternkofel Via Ferrata – Innerkoflersteig The via ferrata up the Paternkofel (2,745 m) is one of the most impressive routes in the Sesto Dolomites. The route follows the former front line of the First World War and combines spectacular views with fascinating history. Highlights of the tour include the impressive war tunnels, the summit with its panoramic views, and the famous Paternsattel, which offers one of the most beautiful panoramic views in the Dolomites. From here, a unique view opens up onto the mighty north faces of the Three Peaks – an unforgettable photo opportunity. Accompanied by an experienced mountain guide, the tour leads from the Auronzo Hut over the Paternsattel to the Paternkofel. The subsequent descent follows the historic Innerkoflersteig trail and through the former war tunnels towards the Dreizinnen Hut. Toblinger Knoten via ferrata – Leiternsteig The Toblinger Knoten (2,617 m) is one of the most scenic via ferrata destinations in the area around the Three Peaks. The striking rock tower rises directly opposite the famous peaks and offers an impressive panoramic view of the Sesto Dolomites. The ascent follows the historic Kaiserjägersteig via ferrata, which was built during the First World War and today delights visitors with exciting climbing sections and an alpine atmosphere. After a well-deserved rest at the summit with its unique panorama, the descent follows the easier via ferrata along the north-east ridge. Accompanied by an experienced mountain guide, this varied tour is a special experience for anyone wishing to discover the Dolomites from an extraordinary perspective. A milestone for flying sports: Hike & Fly has been officially recognized as a sport! To mark this occasion, the very first official Italian Hike & Fly Championship will take place from September 23 to 26, 2026, against the breathtaking backdrop of the Sextner Dolomites and the Gsieser Valley. Hike & Fly combines mountaineering and paragliding: Athletes cover predetermined routes on foot and in the air. During the championship, participants must reach various waypoints (turnpoints) on foot or fly to them by paraglider. We make a short walk of approx. 50 min. to the Steinmetz farm. We visit the farm with stable, animals and the farm butchery. Together with Lanz Active, we experience a challenging and scenic hike from Lake Braies up to Kühwiesenkopf in the Prags Dolomites. The famous alpine lake at 1,494 m is the starting point of this varied route, which begins on gentle forest paths before gradually ascending on steeper trails towards the tree line. Above the forest boundary, stunning views of Seekofel (Sasso del Signore) open up before we finally reach the summit of Kühwiesenkopf at 2,140 m. Here we enjoy a well-deserved break with a breathtaking panorama over the Prags Dolomites, the main Alpine ridge, and the Puster Valley. Alpinisteig The Alpinisteig is one of the most impressive historic via ferratas in the Sesto Dolomites. It was built during the First World War by Italian Alpine troops and leads through a stunning high-mountain landscape with spectacular views of the surrounding peaks. Although the via ferrata is technically fairly straightforward, it should not be underestimated due to its length and the possibility of snowfields – particularly at the start of the season. Accompanied by an experienced mountain guide, you’ll enjoy a varied tour that combines history, nature and alpine adventure. A milestone for flying sports: Hike & Fly has been officially recognized as a sport! To mark this occasion, the very first official Italian Hike & Fly Championship will take place from September 23 to 26, 2026, against the breathtaking backdrop of the Sextner Dolomites and the Gsieser Valley. Hike & Fly combines mountaineering and paragliding: Athletes cover predetermined routes on foot and in the air. During the championship, participants must reach various waypoints (turnpoints) on foot or fly to them by paraglider. The Italian Championship features four exciting challenges spread over four competition days, which will be optimally adjusted depending on weather conditions: September 23 – Sexten: Task 1 (Start & Finish in the area of the Sexten sports facilities) September 24 – Gsies: Task 2 September 25 – Gsies: Task 3 September 26 – Sexten: Task 4 (Start & Finish in the area of the Sexten sports facilities) On Saturday, September 26, the awards ceremony will take place in the late afternoon at the Sexten sports facilities. Together with our mountain guide Manuel we will start our crossing of the Prags Dolomites from the Brunst Alp. After two hours of hiking we will reach the start of the fixed rope route, where Manuel will give us a short introduction to the equipment. As soon as the climbing harness is properly fastened and the helmet is on, we will start our adventure. After a breathtaking, beautiful climb of difficulty level A (easy) we will reach the exit. If time permits, we will climb up to the summit cross at the Hochalpenkopf and enjoy the spectacular panorama in the middle of the Dolomites, with views of the Prags Dolomites, the Rieserferner and the Zillertal Alps. After a short rest we will descend step by step to the Pragser Wildsee Lake and let the day end comfortably.We will return to Olang by bus and by train and we will look up to the mastered summit with amazement. We start with the public bus to Sexten/Sesto and go with the cable car to the Helm/Monte Elmo (2.050 m). Here the hike begins via the Hüttensteig path nr. 20 to the Helmhaus and to the Rif. Sillianer Hütte hut. Since we will spend most of our time up on the beautiful border ridge and want to enjoy the mountain panorama flexibly, we recommend that all participants bring enough provisions, such as their own packed lunch. This way, we are independent of time and can take our breaks at the most beautiful viewpoints. We will make a short stop at the Sillianer Hütte for a cozy drink break. We enjoy a relaxed and nature-oriented hike around the Rasner Möser biotope and the villages of Rasun di Sopra and Rasun di Sotto – perfect for relaxing, enjoying and discovering. We start at the cultural house in Rasun di Sopra (1.080 m) and walk to the idyllic Rasner Möser biotope. We continue to the rest and barbecue area in Rasun di Sopra and along the village loop trail (1.150 m) to Rasun di Sotto, reaching Alpen Natur Camping (1.030 m). Finally, we follow the cycle path back to the village, where several refreshment stops are available. We take the bus to Sexten/Sesto and from there the cable car up to the Helm (2.050 m). The Olperl’s Nature Park starts directly at the mountain station of the Helm cable car and leads to Olperl's best friends - into the realm of the alpine animal world. On the 1,5 km long circular trail you can discover 10 exciting adventure points - with great views of the summit world of the Sesto Dolomites. Exploring Olperl's Natur Park on the highest barefoot trail in the Dolomites (2.150 m) is soothing and healthy. Soft moss, fragrant larch wood, stone slabs or pebbles revitalise the foot reflex zones before the feet are bathed in cooling spring water. A morning at the farm: discover how organic quality is created, get to know farm life first-hand, and gain genuine insights into regional agriculture. Ideal for families and anyone wishing to experience Olang from its most authentic side.

Every Friday from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm, the farm oven at Stacherhof is fired up, offering an authentic experience of traditional bread baking. In the traditional wood-fired oven, real farmhouse bread is made, while the entire process from grain to flour and from flour to the finished loaf is demonstrated. Step by step, traditional recipes, milling, dough preparation and baking are explained – all carried out with great care and passion. After baking, the experience continues with a short farm tour, where the animals are introduced and insights into everyday farm life are provided. Afterwards, participants are invited to enjoy a tasting of freshly baked bread along with selected specialties from the farm shop. The course takes place with a minimum of 5 participants. A milestone for flying sports: Hike & Fly has been officially recognized as a sport! To mark this occasion, the very first official Italian Hike & Fly Championship will take place from September 23 to 26, 2026, against the breathtaking backdrop of the Sextner Dolomites and the Gsieser Valley. Hike & Fly combines mountaineering and paragliding: Athletes cover predetermined routes on foot and in the air. During the championship, participants must reach various waypoints (turnpoints) on foot or fly to them by paraglider. The Italian Championship features four exciting challenges spread over four competition days, which will be optimally adjusted depending on weather conditions: September 23 – Sexten: Task 1 (Start & Finish in the area of the Sexten sports facilities) September 24 – Gsies: Task 2 September 25 – Gsies: Task 3 September 26 – Sexten: Task 4 (Start & Finish in the area of the Sexten sports facilities) On Saturday, September 26, the awards ceremony will take place in the late afternoon at the Sexten sports facilities.
